Royal Canadian Mead is Ontario’s first Session Mead, a modern twist on the world’s oldest alcohol, made with 100% Ontario honey. Our meads are crisp, light, super refreshing and completely unique. We’re looking for a team-player who isn’t afraid to pick up the phone or knock on a door to make an introduction and spread the gospel of RCM. The right candidate will become a key part of RCM’s growth as a brand and as the leader in this exciting new beverage category. 

Position Summary:

Our Sales & Marketing Rep will be responsible for building and leveraging current and future retail & licensee relationships, increasing market penetration and brand awareness, and promoting brand education to business and end-consumer customers in Toronto and the GTA.  Working as part of our Sales & Marketing Team, they will oversee and work closely with the rest of the RCM team to seek out and manage new sales opportunities while managing the relationships with current licensee and retail partners. This position will report directly to the President. 


Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in beverage alcohol sales, or in a sales role in a specialty product (ideally food or beverage)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of beverage brewing processes, sales management techniques, and CRM systems

  • Eagerness to learn about Session Mead and other specialty alcoholic beverages

  • Strong communication skills in English

  • Passion and enthusiasm for craft beverages (beer, cider, mead, wine) 

  • Ability to multi task and react professionally to unexpected events

  • Above average computer skills, with extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel;  Gmail and online ordering interfacing

  • Proficient with calendar, time management tools and prioritizing

  • Knowledge of Freshsales or other CRM tool is a key asset

  • Self-motivated, positively and comfortably able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with focused attention to detail

  • Previous marketing experience would be an asset

  • Valid Ontario driver's license

  • Own vehicle is a plus

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Grow the current LCBO and licensee partner base and sales volume

    • Identify new stores, and work to increase sell-through rates at existing LCBO stores

  • Identify and assess sales leads. Research and Identify new markets.

  • Actively selling 

    • Cold calling new leads

    • Setting Appointments / meetings

    • Following up to close deals

  • Schedule and lead regular meetings with sales team and leadership, reviewing metrics, sales goals and progress 

  • Communicate metrics, progress and sales reports to leadership monthly

  • Train, continuously improve upon and ensure adherence to, the Royal Canadian Mead sales and on-boarding process

  • Plan & execute on-site and off-site promotional activities including beer/food festivals, licensee promotions, staff and consumer samplings, and guerilla marketing activations (aka “Mead Ups”)

  • Manage effective communication with retail and licensee client base, including weekly order reminders, product launches and training sessions

  • Be the ‘face’ of Royal Canadian Mead for all of our Licensee & Retail clients. Embody company culture and maintain high customer engagement. Attend industry events to learn, contribute and strengthen relationships.

  • Work closely with our retail and licensee partners to build relationships with a focus on profitability and increasing sales. Their success is our success.

  • Have a solid understanding of the Royal Canadian Mead product portfolio, mead-making process, as well as other complementary products and services

Special Requirements: 

  • Travel to clients across the assigned territory - regular access to a car required

  • Occasional irregular hours, including some evenings and weekends

  • Travel to be compensated per Company’s travel policies or as discussed with employee prior to travel date. 

  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements

  • Other duties as needed
